Has to be the right conclusion, but it it will lead to some bizarre matches for the rest of the season. And surely they'll focus on the European cup, how will that look?

A second 35 point deduction would almost certainly relegate them. But not quite.

70 points still to play for this season. They can theoretically get to 28 points. They would then have the tie-breaks on everyone, so 29 points is the target for the rest of the league to stay up!

At our current rate of points we get to 30 points!

I accept that they are extremely unlikely to get bonus point wins in every game and we are unlikely not to improve our current rate of points.

£2m over this season!! eye popping smiley (Sm105)

So for last 3 seasons they must have been somewhere similar so £5m to £6m total. So no small amount!

Don't know about relegation down to the Championship. Should be down to the bottom of the structure like happened to Richmond when they went bust.

And this really does add great support to the demands of some for them to be stripped of their titles, especially their Prem ones.

This will go on and on and on, Exeter board will no doubt be looking at this. Sadly this is going to end with a lot of players moving abroad and is not doing either our league or the national sides any favours.

This could cost Wray a small fortune if prize money has to be repaid. And I wonder what their sponsors think?

And what is Sarries actually worth now?

They are down , the collective anger of the other 11 clubs would ensure some "strange results" ensuring all other teams get a higher points total than Sarries by the season`s end..

Do they get prize money for the titles? Gate receipts yes (and isn't that split between the clubs for prem final), not so sure about prize money.

How do you quantify additional financial gain from sponsorship deals etc , because you are champions , never mind additional gate reciepts, "prize money", extra sales in club paraphanalia. Impossible to nail down .

"This episode has not just hit the integrity of Saracens as a club - but the Premiership as a whole."

By the BBC correspondent.

To whom is he referring, the clubs who operated correctly or those officials, who oversee the league and its rules?

For many outsiders the sport takes on some of the reputation as well.
A bit like not all footballers dive, but everyone is tainted as such to outsiders.

The problem is that, amongst those officials, are representatives of all the clubs in the Premiership.

kitson in the grauniad

"The whole steaming mess threatens to stink out the Six Nations this year and, potentially, beyond."

and the premiership too!!

Surely not beyond the wit of a decent set of accountants.

I disagree. I think it will do our league an enormous amount of good to be free of a team who has corrupted it for the last five seasons at the very least. Unfortunately any good will only be for one season as they will return and continue to reap the benefits of all the years of cheating.

I would say the integrity of a league is virtually nil when a team can "win" it by cheating for years.

All the things they won while breaking the rules should be taken off them.

Their 'successes' should be expunged from the record books. Period.

The 'building something special' marketing garbage makes me laugh. What a hoot.

Should in a league lower than Nuneaton Old Eds 4ths.

Cheating on an industrial scale deserves extreme punishment.

Best keep Stephen Jones away from any sharp objects in the coming few days.

It seems inconceivable that the Premiership “titles” they won in the known affected (ie cheating) years should remain on the record books
