Maybe they do, but how about those that live too far away to travel ?
Scholarships do not include all of the associated costs, and so a certain level of wealth is required to participate.

Leicester Tigers Academy operates eight DPP centres across a geographical region that covers Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire and Norfolk.

I very much doubt the players selected are a true representation of this geographic spread. And at this level, there is a responsibility on the academy system to not just look after the interests of the 13 Premiership clubs, but the health of the game and its players in general.

Tigers places Academy lads at Brooksby, where boarding places are available, so money (or the lack of it) is no longer a barrier to inclusion. There are also a significant number of other lads at Brooksby who didnít quite make the Academy and, if they develop really well, Tigers can take them on. Itís a much better system these days than it used to be.

Assume it works for Brooksby as it does for most AASE schools. Talented kids identified through the DPP and trials who don't attend private schools will be encouraged to go there for 6th form, with accommodation arranged if required.

A colleague's son played for your U18s last year and attended Brooksby despite being from the northern edge of your catchment. It's not a perfect system, but there will be opportunities for those from state schools who live a distance from Leicester.

Anyway, LI team for Sunday. They've been scoring plenty of tries (TBP in every game), but letting a few in. One loss was a high scoring one to Sarries earlier in the season.

London Irish U18s:
15 Ben Fitzgerald, 14 Henry Arundell, 13 Will Joseph, 12 Matt Barrett, 11 Finley Brown, 10 Monty Bradbury, 9 Rory Morgan, 1 Tarek Haffar, 2 Joseph Vajner ©, 3 Joe Keohane, 4 Josh Taylor, 5 Sam Harding, 6 Lucas Brooke, 7 George Davis, 8 Marcus Rhodes

Replacements:
16 Freddie Fearnley, 17 Mikey Summerfield, 18 Ethan Pawadyira, 19 Edwin Zaimovic, 20 Oscar Jansen, 21 Dan Ormond, 22 Niall McGann, 23 Alexander Harmes

Is rugby still played much in Leicester schools, I know my old high school in South Wigston sold their playing fields for housing development decades ago.

They poach them at 16/17 which skews it quite a lot. Reading up on their profiles on the offy site and googling them loads move schools at 16, Jack Rowntree is an example (obviously has other advantages) he was at Hastings High School (state academy in Hinckley) until middle of last year when he starts being listed at the Grammar school.

W - Henry Joule (Market Harborough)

5 NLD
10 Leicester

3 others

Given year to year variations (loads from Norfolk in recent past) that hardly looks out of place, others from this year group that are missing are Emeka Illione (Nottingham) and Harry Glynn (Harborough).

Most of the Leicestershire state schools have teams up to U16, but the standard isnít as high as the club teams. However, there are a good many examples of lads who started playing rugby at school, discovered a love of the game and an aptitude and were then taken along to clubs by their mates - turned into super players too! Itís so important for kids to have these pathways to success.

That looks like far and wide across our catchment area, also not all public schools. Is Illione injured?

Pathways are important but not built in a short time.

Yes Ilione is injured.
