Bristol up for hosting Prem restart.

Twickenham and Rioch now out of running.

Would have thought the Gardens and Sixways would be at the head of the queue? WR in with a shout too?

Would the old complaint of the changing rooms being too small be valid and count against WR ?
Or would the plan to be to deck out part of the big (formerly called the Cat) stand to allow several 'temp'changing rooms?

I'm assuming this for 'behind closed doors' games ??

Let them have it .. we do not want our pitch being debilitated by over use

The referee is the final arbitrary .. dementiaaahll!

the Ashton Gate Desso pitch will certainly not be debilitated if this goes ahead , it is without doubt the best surface in the league and the past couple of seasons it has looked as good on the last day of the season as it did on the first despite being used for both football and rugby .
Also with our new nearby world class training facility due to open shortly thats another requirement ticked . The only thing that might prevent this will be the football league if they schedule Bristol City matches at the same time .

Why would anyone want a pitch that is the same from the first to last days?

The game is meant to be played in all conditions testing a range of skills creating variety and nuance in playing style.

I think there's a difference between a pitch that's always rather tediously always the same and one that has all the qualities of a ploughed field.

All speculation at the moment though and it seems some of the clubs are not keen to play behind closed doors but something has to be decide/ agreed soon otherwise next season becomes a problem

Our pitch is a Desso isn't it!. When they built 'The Cat' the original plan was to have the dressing rooms underneath but the players, at that time, said the preferred to run out facing it

Our pitch is not Desso.

But equivalent to.

Desso pitches are basically plastic reinforced grass.

3G pitches (like sarries and Worcester) comprise a shock pad over laid with a long pile plastic carpet that then has an infill placed on(within) it. Sarries is the more usual rubber crumb whereas I believe Worcester use an organic substance (coconut husks?) as infill. 3G pitch specifications can vary greatly too in terms of type and performance of shockpad plus depth of pile on the carpet. Different sports have very different requirements.

3G pitches will stand up to much more and more intense usage than a Desso (2G if you like) or similar pitch will. But both types of pitches' performance is massively influenced by the routine regular maintenance and care that it receives.

I'd be disappointed if our pitch couldn't withstand and stay in reasonable condition if 6 games were to be played upon it over a weekend.

I now have an image of the Tigers XV appearing from the under the earth at the start of the game!
Good thing it didn't catch on as Leicester Moles is far less appealing as a team name.
