Making Memories

Brenda Venter once said that rugby was more about making memories than winning trophies ( though winning trophies contributes massively to making memories). Sunday will be right up there with the best of them (including the 3 European Championship Finals).

Others amongst my many personal memories include:

Rod Penney's length of the pitch try scoring run at VR
Also at VR, scoring 20 pts and getting a TBP
1998 Tetley's Bitter Cup Final v Wasps
11 Jan 1999: Tetley's Bitter Cup 4th round - Morley 8 Saracens 76.

I look forward to more in the coming years.

Narbonne away. One of the Fez boys convincing a steward to let him dive head first into the long jump pit, and then by offering to help a lad overburdened with beer finding myself in our dressing room with a trayful of lager, making myself the front row on the nights new best friend.... So, so many more

loved that one my first European away trip and got locked in the ladies at the end of the game - my husband, who speaks no French, had to try and gesture my predicament to a steward so they could let me out! Good times - that was of course the Challenge Cup, the venues we so much more fun there

Don Barell scored the 4th try at the Vicarage Rd end....yes Bath were involved.
I think the above is correct - it was a while ago!

I've still got the ball he kicked into the stand - a bit deflated but it's moved houses with us and has pride of place on top of the cabinet.

Still have to stifle the urge to boo even the mention of Alan Quinlan

Kris Chesney scoring at VR with two (or three?) opposition players hanging off him. (Sm6)

The Bath game at VR was a cracker 4 tries 20 points and every kick missed by both our fly halves.

Kameli's try after 4 mins vs Munster at the Ricoh in 2008 - had to sit down as I went a bit faint !

Rod's length of the field try

Jamie's try in the Prem final vs Bath

Kensuke Iwabuchi

Kenny didn't get many minutes on the pitch, let alone games.

But when he did, he inevitably got flattened by some large back row forward.

'Oh my God, they've killed Kenny!'

Winning away in Toulouse in 2000 and the players joining us in the pub after the match.

The 10 minutes of extra time in "that final" against Leicester.

Every piece of magic that Schalk Brits produced on the pitch.

Stuart Tinner winning the 250k crossbar challenge at Wembley , and the second half of that game against South Africa

Tim Horan turning England's Balshaw inside out on the way to a try at Bath, first win there for years and years. Class up close.

4 European finals were special - even the first one against Toulon in Cardiff (for which we were 20 minutes late - the coach trip counting in the debit column of memories)

I was 17 miles from Graybridge before I was caught by the school leopard

Standing in the Shed at Gloucester with my son (about the only two Saracens fans for what seemed like miles around) at the semi-final in 2007, when Kameli Ratuvou upended Iain Balshaw about 6 yards directly in front of us.

I didn't think we would get out alive! Mind you, protesting loudly that we couldn't see anything wrong with it probably didn't help our cause!

For the record, Kameli was sin binned and Gloucester won by a cricket score.
