According to Googlemaps you can get to Northampton within an hour from Old Albanians.

Goolemaps is entirely correct on the timings so long as you are driving:
At 3 AM on a Sunday morning
Downhill
With a following wind
In a fast car
With no roadworks

Oh, and you'll probably still need all the lights to be green to and from the M1.

Exactly, I live near the M1. It goes serious @#$%& up on average every 2 days, and thatís like an hour delay. It was gridlocked on Christmas Day morning for gods sake when most sensible people are home opening presents and the trucks are all parked. Not sure MM would be happy players turning up an hour late to training on a regular basis.

Living and working in London gives far greater exposure to contacts for post-rugby employment
Given that is 30 years employment it is a significant advantage. The centre of finance and media for example

Good advice for students thinking of Uni but not players spending their daytimes training

Not true at all, and I know that from personal experience.

What do you think these guys do after playing?

Sit around at home all day?

A pint in London can be well over £6, here in Herts around £5, further north nearer £4, Iím sure others can give typical prices. Compare a pub lunch in Harpenden or St Albans vs Coventry or Exeter and youíll see a big difference, never mind Newcastle or Sale.
Alex Goode can tell you the pint prices from Newcastle to St Albans. He pub crawled that entire distance...

Unfortunately, he can't remember many!
