Without Google... Does sevens count? If not, Kris Chesney, and at his best Del Haughton had a shout. Justin Marshall wasn't capped during his time with us..... On the whole I probably agree with you, but for the sake of argument like....!

Haven't read the article because it's behind the Murdoch paywall, but I think you have to draw a line between the modern professional game with substitutions and squads of 23 and the amateur era of injury replacements only from a bench of two or three. It was much harder to get a cap back then. For example Warren Gatland was NZ's second hooker behind Sean Fitzpatrick for a while and these days would have had 20 minutes off the bench in most games, but didn't get a test cap. And going back further there weren't so many international fixtures, with Five Nations instead of Six, no Rugby Championship and no World Cups.

I'd agree that Glen Jackson is the best Saracens player of the professional era not to have won an international cap. NZ were so well stocked with quality 10s at the time. Of the current squad it surprises me that Jackson Wray wasn't at least called up for a training session when Eddie was still undecided about his best back row. But I think most of our best players get capped now even if they don't always get as many as we think they deserve.

Kevin Sorrell I always thought was unlucky and Jackson Wray currently

I think Mike Rhodes can be added to the list.

Thatís a good shout. Vastly better than Brad Shields who got parachuted in ahead of him. Not sure Jackson or SuperKev have the x-factor to get that accolade, but outstanding club players nevertheless.
Glenda almost certainly would have got in the England team.

On reflection he would be up there for me ... at his pomp playing as a utility wing from 8 he was magnificent week in week out.

How about a Saracens uncapped 23 to pass the time?
Trying to discount the likes of Malins who SHOULD get a cap at some point in his career...

1. Richard Barrington
2. Greg Botterman
3. Petrus du Plessis
4. Kris Chesney
5. Stuart Hooper
6. Jackson Wray
7. Will Fraser
8. Ernst Joubert
9. Floyd Steadman
10. Glen Jackson
11. Brendon Daniel
12. Adam Powell
13. Kevin Sorrell
14. James Short
15. Richard Haughton
16. Scott Spurling
17. Nick Lloyd
18. Tom Mercey
19. Mike Rhodes
20. Andy Saull
21.Alan Dickens
22. Rodd Penney
23. Noah Cato

Definitely got to put Chesney in, only reason I didn't was because I assumed he got at least one cap! Silly me...

Rob Thirlby or Brendon Daniel at 11.

I'd have Scott Spurling at 2 - he would have been a really good player but for injury.

Switch Fraser and Wray.

Kevin Barritt at 9

Tevita Vaikona was never capped in union, is that cheating for 11?

I had no idea Ernie was uncapped. For me then he would be top of the list, a genuinely international class player

But about ten stone too light to play 8 for the Boks unfortunately!
