UNDER 18s MAUL TIGERS
Leicester Tigers Under 18s 19pts Coventry Under 18s 26pts - 31 Jan 2020
A dominant first half laid the foundations for this win against a useful home side in a game played at the DeMontfort University playing fields in Beaumont Leys. Winger Aquil Attah opened the scoring on 12 minutes with a clever midfield burst, followed by a smoothly worked try for centre Louis James on 23 minutes. James’s centre partner Tommy Simms converted both for a 14-nil visiting lead. Henry Mair completed the scoring burst from close range just before the break, the score unconverted for a 19 nil lead. The home side powered back and were rewarded for a strong second period start with a 50th minute converted try. However, a super run from right wing Charlie Gray, converted by replacement kicker Danny Chalmers , restored the 19 point Cov Under 18s advantage. The hosts chased the game and claimed two tries, (63) and 71 minutes, the former converted to narrow the deficit. However, a strong defensive display to the final whistle allowed Coventry Under 18s to claim a merited and valued win.

UNDER 18s CLIMB THE REPRESENTATIVE LADDER
This Sunday, 16th February, 11 of the Coventry Under 18s squad continue their upward pathway by rep-resenting the Midlands against their North opponents at Stourbridge RFC, 2.30pm kickoff.
Selected for this fixture are Aquil Attah, Sam Bayliss, Aaron Clifford, James Crabtree, Sam Everett, Ben Harrison, Louis James, Theo Mostert, Dan Price, Chris Romano and Ed Righton.
Head Coach Phil Boulton is delighted for this heavy representation into this next stage of England Aspira-tional Teams programme.
‘All of our players should be proud of their selection. They have trained well this season and the call-up represents not just what they have done with us , but with how they have played for their own clubs and counties as well.
We’re looking forward to seeing them represent us with the Midlands on Sunday and then bringing this experience back for our own games before the end of the season.’

REPRESENTATIVE MATCH UPDATE:

Have just phoned Stourbridge RFC and was told this match was still going ahead this afternoon at 2.30pm.

I was hoping to travel to get a report, but, in view of Storm Dennis currently underway, have decided discretion is the better part of valour! Will try to get a report on this game, if I can, later this week.

Paul
