All We Can Ask?

At this stage, in our position, what can we ask for from the Tykes? All we can ask is ... 4 wins and bonus points. 20 points. bring that on.

But come, lets face it: Bonus points are unrealistic (count the number of try scoring bonus we have achieved this season in the GP).

So all we can ask is 4 wins. 16 points. This constitutes "doing our bit". If the team manage this we should celebrate it as a run of decent form, even if it doesn't keep us up this time. Of course, to stay up we probably need to ask that ...

… other teams have the grace to perform as they should. Give us a chance! Stop this malarcky of freak results (apart from if you are in a Tykes shirt, obviously), it really doesn't help us! If the teams above us get another win, then life becomes mathematically difficult.

At that point, all we can ask is we go into the last match of the season with our fate in our own hands. Give us fans a chance of not having multiple heart attacks on the last day of the season by ensuring that if we secure the win at Falcons, that alone is enough to keep us up.

Failing that, all we can ask is that we go into the last match of the season still mathematically alive. OK, I admit it, at this stage I'd grab those multiple heart attacks with both hands and hang on for dear life! If my conspiracy theory survives, there will be at least 3 clubs for the drop in May, to boost the crowds and press coverage. Let's keep the GP dream alive as long as possible, at least until the 8th minute of injury time on the last match of the season (oh how ironic would it be if we scored in that 8th minute to survive, after our losses this season??).

All we can ask is that the players give it their all and shoulder the blame that is theirs for the start to the season. It's been an uphill battle since long before mid November. But it's encouraging seeing articles like the Roland one where the players are being realistic and taking the flak. It's a tough task and would be a greater escape than last year. But I believe the players want to stay up.

There is a variety of opinions on the messageboard (thank goodness, how dull would it be if we all agreed?!?!) but let's all agree that all we can ask is what ever happens, we go marching on together.
