END OF SEASON POLL Part 3

August 3 2015
So we move on to the Club awards. I couldn’t persuade the dog to sit still long enough to be my independent scrutineer yet again so I’m afraid this time voting was overseen by the goldfish.
-
Best Performance by a Saracens Team. There was plenty to choose from this year - isn’t that wonderful! Several of you (understandably) went for the Premiership Final win over Bath and the away defeat (to nil) of Harlequins was also a popular choice. The home win against Munster was another nomination but your choice for the best Saracens’ performance in 204/15 was the Semi Final win over Saints at Franklin’s Gardens. Many of you commented that the fact it was so unexpected made it really special.
-
Worst Performance by a Saracens Team. Well we did have to sit through a few shockers! The second half performance against Saints at Milton Keynes was nominated by quite a few as was the away defeat to Gloucester. There was support for the defeat at home to Northampton and the away loss to Sale. But you decided that the worst Saracens’ performance of the season was the Home defeat to Exeter in the penultimate round of the Premiership.
-
Favourite Club to visit for an away game. This category has been a French preserve for the past few years. This time there was quite a range of nominations. Bath, Newcastle, Racing, Leicester & Munster all had their supporters but yet again the French have it. Your favourite away venue was Stade Marcel Michelin in Clermont Ferrand
-
Least favourite Club to visit for an away game. Northampton has been your choice for the past 2 years but perhaps the unexpected win at the Gardens in May has changed your view a bit because there were a lot of different suggestions this time. Racing & Welford Road featured in both categories! The Kassam, The Madstad, Ulster and of course Franklin’s Gardens all had their supporters but this season, your least favourite place to visit was Kingsholm, home of Gloucester Rugby.
-
Best opposition Fans. This is another category that has been won by our friends across the Channel for the past 3 years. It wasn’t quite unanimous – there was support for Exeter, Irish, Racing & Munster but overwhelmingly your choice was those wonderful “armie jaune” from Clermont Auvergne
-
Worst opposition fans. This one has gone to Northampton for the past 2 seasons but it looks like maybe you have finally forgiven them! Of course there were nominations for Saints fans (especially at Milton Keynes), together with Leicester, Ulster (did we play them this year?) and Gloucester. In fairness a few of you said that you had no issue with anyone but your selection as the worst opposition fans this year are the other London Club: Harlequins
-
Favourite other AP team. Until last year when you chose the Insects, one club had dominated this category. Wasps were nominated again, along with Irish, Newcastle and Leicester Tigers but after a brief hiatus last year, your favourite other AP team is once again Exeter Chiefs
-
Least Favourite AP team. With honourable mention for Leicester, Quins, Sale and Bath, once again your least favourite AP team is Northampton Saints
-
Best Bar. It’s been no place like home since we moved to Barnet. This year a couple of other places got a mention, Newcastle, Exeter, Clermont (that marvellous brewery tour?) and Byatts at the Ricoh were all nominated but yet again your favourite Bar is our very own Allianz Park
-
Worst Bar. Well this one has always been a straight fight between Wembley and Twickenham. Stadium MK did get a vote of 2 but the clear winner this year was Twickenham
-
Best Food. Honorable mentions for Bedford, Racing and St Etienne but yet again your stomach is in Barnet. Your favourite food is found at Allianz Park
-
Worst Food. Again this one is between Wembley & Twickenham with a couple of you disliking the Kassam and the hot dogs at St Etienne. By a nose, the worst food was served at Twickenham.
So there we have it, you choices for the Club awards for 2014/15. Just the final selection to come later in the week.

with the time it took to get past the outside barriers - straight to the seats was the order of the day
Any specifics on best food and bar at Allianz Park? as there are a number of options.
Am treating a friend for the Saints "friendly" and would like to provide them with the quintessential Sarries experience. Any suggestions for specific food, bar or seating (have sat East and North so far) once tickets become available.
The pulled pork bap and pint of cider are also very nice, although I haven't seen the stall there every time (they may be behind the West Stand). I haven't sat in the West but I gather it isn't particularly comfy, so you may wish to give that a miss.

I'm amazed that anyone managed to eat in the stadium in St. Ettiene at all

Yes it took an age to get in, simply because the entire Yellow Army decided to enter the ground in one go.
I gave up on beer at the bar, where there was only one server, and the hotdog stand was moving a lot faster - there weren't quality hotdogs, but I was hungry and at least I got served.

The food outside the ground was excellent, massive hotdog served in a baguette. As for the bar once we were inside a very friendly Clermont fan bought me and the three people I was with a pint; free beer always tastes good in my books

Well, at least Harlequins won something last season.
Yep, the Rosslyn Park Floodlit Sevens. But winning this poll probably tops that...
