Bath Start Second Half Two Points Down

Bath get ready for the start of the second half of the Parker Pen Cup match against Bridgend trailing by just two points and with a home advantage that should see them them through to the next round. The really good news is that ace points gatherer, Olly Barkley, returns at fly half.
Despite the tag of underdogs in this encounter,
Bridgend assistant boss Richard Webster told
the South Wales Echo, "We had to be
happy with last week's result, but it was
disappointing from the point that we didn't
do a lot of things that we had worked on
and, to be honest, we should have stuffed
Bath." Good old Webby, still trotting
out the sort of rubbish you would expect
from a team leader, shame he's going to be
disappointed this week when he returns to
the Rec.
Jonathan Humphreys, who skippers Bath in
Grewcock's absence because of a one match
ban, will himself be looking for a big game
against his countrymen and given that Bath
suffered a bit in the scrum last week we
will be glad to have him back. Also after
his first real work-out of the season Iain
Balshaw should be stronger and fitter and
raring to show the home crowd a thing or
two; this could be the ideal platform to
re-launch Balshaw's Bath career.
Given the generally disappointing season
so far Bath fans will be expecting something
better than has been seen in the League to
date, my prediction for this game? Bath to
win by a minimum of 10 points and perhaps
more.
