Day One of thePadova Diary

Well, it starts today, my first ever European Challenge Cup away game. Off to Italy with Silver Warrior (Tracy) and Nytol (Jen). We are not excited at all !!! The luggage is packed, flights, car park and Hotel booked and the Euros and passports all stowed in the hand luggage.

This trip sort of just fell together just as sweetly as you like and as the weather is going to be 24c and sunny I can’t help feeling something has to go awry as it’s all toooooo perfect at the moment! I am bound to forget something I always do!

Out of the 3 European away games this season, I just couldn’t resist this one for several very good reasons. Nytol finally has a proper job and can pay her own way (Oooo I could be in trouble for that!) , Padova is quite close to Venice which is somewhere I have always wanted to go and I have never been to Italy!! Oh and there might be some good rugby in there somewhere!

It seems there quite a few Warriors supporters going to the game and I will endeavour to ensure that the folks back home listening to the game on BBC Hereford & Worcester, hear my dulcet tones during the game as well lending my considerable vocal support to the Warriors Barmy Army in many renditions of Warriors and Come on You Warriors etc etc. All fuelled by Peroni or Nastro Azzurro or other local beverage forced upon us!

Now I am off the sort out the housework for the weekend so as to leave my poor long suffering hubby a clean and tidy house whilst I swan off to the land of ice cream and pasta. There will be photos and a full report sometime on Monday. So have a good weekend, as that’s what I am planning!!

Day One of thePadova Diary

If you get this before you go to Venice go to the Cantina do Mori near the Rialto bridge (Piazzale Roma side Address - San Polo 429, Venice) - it's well hidden and didn't even have a sign on the door - Since 1462, this has been the local watering hole of choice in the market area; legend even pegs Casanova as a habitué. Tramezzini are the fuel of Venice -- sample them here where you're guaranteed fresh combinations of thinly sliced meats, tuna, cheeses, and vegetables, along with tapaslike cicchetti. They're traditionally washed down with an ombra. Venetians stop to snack and socialize before and after meals, but if you don't mind standing (there are no tables), for a light lunch this is one of the best of the old-time bacari left. And now that it serves a limited number of first courses like melanzane alla parmigiana (eggplant Parmesan) and fondi di carciofi saltati (lightly fried artichoke hearts), my obligatory stop here is more fulfilling than ever.

Or have a Bellini at Harry's Bar - The drink's good but there's no Atmosphere. and the Bill is amazing!

Mas

Thanks Mas, we might give those a go!

I also think between us we can give Harry's bar some atmosphere (Sm100) (Sm128)

No reason why I shouldn't.

Except Daz is slightly bigger than me.

I could always tell on him when PE gets back, say he's been bullying me or something. She'd sort him out.
