Vicious circles and downward spirals.

So here we are with the season drawing to an end and the club is in crisis, the players have no confidence and then play badly, lose then get booed off the pitch at home. Which saps their confidence and … well you get the picture.
Being in my 4th season as a season ticket holder I can’t remember when things have been so fragmented between the playing/coaching staff and the fans. Very few fans are prepared to stand up for the players when they get called lazy, disinterested, clueless, passionless, and not worthy of a Warriors shirt. So does this help? How does this downward trend get halted?
Well if I knew that I would be a great deal better off than I am now!! Can we help the players at all? What does booing them tell them? How do supporters show their frustration with what is going on, on the pitch without adding the player’s woes? And what exactly is at the core of the issues on the pitch? As the song goes “There are more questions than answers” at the moment.
There is still the shadow of relegation looming over us all to boot, the Warriors do have their destiny in their own hands but seem incapable of grasping it as they snatch at everything in desperation.
For myself I think I have written off the rest of the season and will be quite happy to let the boys go on a long rest and see what comes along next season. We started the 2008/09 season with such high hopes after the ECC cup final and the way the Warriors were playing rugby with width and some panache and we had signed Chris Latham. I doubt that any of the fan base will have such high expectations in August 2009 whether it be in the Premiership or National Division 1, where some would prefer the Warriors to be as we would at least be winning games, but not me I want the Warriors to be in the Premiership, hopefully moving forward, 8th place would do me, not huge great leaps up the table just a quiet, steady rise to up the league. But we are no where near that sort of progression this season.
There are many theories as to the reason for the state of things, as many as there are Warriors fans, and just as many solutions too. I am going to leave that to those whose livelihoods depend on the outcome. I will survive any disappointment and be back in my seat next season yelling my head off. Why? Because I see it as the only way I can contribute, by showing my support.

I much prefer drowning my sorrows in the bar afterwards - but then again I'd prefer celebratory drinks instead, they do tend to taste that bit better!
When people start to become apathetic (which is creeping in) then there will be problems.
I believe that suuporters have become frustrated/alianated because of high expectations( which the club tend to foster - not unreasonably from a commercial point) and the perceived lack of candor which until this week the club have shown in assesing our performances.
In truth it has been a right old mess IMHO, but like you Lindsey I will be there next season and the seasons after that.
