Richard Hill – A potted History
Born in Birmingham 4th May 1961
Educated in Salisbury – Bishop Wordsworth’s Grammar School and Exeter University
Playing Career
He joined Bath Rugby after university whilst working in a Bank. Had the nick name “Duracell” as he loved training and he is one of players at that time whose dedication to the sport helped introduce professionalism.
Coaching Career
He has had assistant coaching roles at Gloucester and Harlequins. He had a season coaching England Students and was backs coach at Ebbw Vale RFC. Newport RFC appointed him head coach, which he did for a year when he left to join Bristol Rugby. There he led them back to the Premiership after 2 seasons. Bristol attained the dizzy heights of 3rd place, Heineken Cup rugby and the Premiership play offs in 2006-7. The resigned from Bristol Rugby in early 2009 and joined the French 3rd Division side Chalon-sur-Saone where was head coach. In May 2010 he beat 30 or so other candiates to become Head coach at Worcester Warriors. Tasked with waking the sleeping giant.
