JP can you explian why this is posted from Worcester Warriors rather than Faithful City, as it isn't from the club is it ?
Asking for a friend.

It is because it is a story and takes its poster as the Sportnetwork title which is Worcester Warriors

Do you post under any other names JP?

NO I DO NOT

Why have you asked that question after what was said recently. It was an unnecessary question or did you just want to publically raise a contentious issue.

Maybe better done privately

I believe you that it is the current case JP can't find a thumbs up emoji.

I accept that a PM might have been a better course of action, but it was a genuine question. For the life of me I can't see why you should post under a name which clearly appears to be from the club itself when you already post under your own name.

Can we not discuss contentious issues publicly then? I think we are grown up enough to have an open discussion and occasionally agree to disagree.

My own view on the issue is that I’ve always been uncomfortable with the fact that a poster can have more than one identity. This goes back years. It was fact, and has not been denied.

In this specific case I think there is a view that using “Worcester Warriors” as a posting name might be taken as being posted by the club itself, and therefore as being in some way “official”. New posters in particular might be misled.

I don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t be discussed by users.

If it doesn’t say Ted on the post, it isn’t Ted on the keyboard.😀

Then you need to understand how Sportnetwork has worked for the last 30 years.

If an admin post up a story it will be announced on the message board by a posting from the site itself. We are named Worcester Warriors as Newcastle or Northampton are name Newcastle and Northampton

However the post will contain the Name of the author. As I wrote the article my name is added to the announcement, JP

If another admin had created the FP story his/her name would be attached to the announcement.

It is to show a difference between a Front Page Story and a message board thread..

I have to. create a new front page story every two weeks which is what advertisers check not just one or two words message board posts/threads

I hope that helps explain what is needed from myself to keep the board operating

Once again it is NOT a posting name!

It is an announcement of the publication of a Front Page Story on Worcester Warriors.

All understood, background is useful for new posters, most of us oldies know it already.

But if you don’t accept that any post coming from ‘Worcester Warriors” might be seen as coming from the club itself, then we clearly disagree on that point.

And that is not a problem for me.

Yes I do see it as confusing.

I am in contact with sportnetwork to see if something can be done.

Which will probably need me to create a name/identity for announcement posts. If it’s possible I’ll choose the identity as “The Forum”

Let’s see what can be done

I am not too concerned with the minutiae of this debate (but each to their own). However, I wanted to thank 'Faithful city' for the effort that goes into maintaining the website. It is much appreciated, but probably doesn't feel like that sometimes!

Thank you Faddy, it's worth every minute. Helps keep the grey matter engaged but can be taxing at times
