Irish cider brewers Magners are set to become the first ever sponsor of the Celtic League.

After a 5 year spell unsponsored, the Irish, Scottish and Welsh based league finnaly look to have agreed a 6 figure deal with the alchol company, for the next 3 years.

The deal should be annouced next week, and will signal some much needed recognition for the league which has failed to bring the best out of its competitors in early years, though more recent rulings have made the things better.

The money will be shared between unions, and will see an increase in cash given to the sides, overall improving the stardard of teams.

Magners recently celebrated its 70th birthday as a brewery, and has recently had advertising campaigns on TV as well as sponsoring Edinburgh and London Wasps in previous years. As well as bringing extra cash to the teams, it's good news for fans, who will now see a large increase in the drinks availability over the next three years at games, similarly to the 'Heineken' Cup and 'Guinness' Premiership in England.
