Mosese Luviatasau has been cited for a dangerous tackle in the game against Bourgoin on Saturday.

The Fijian winger was involved in a spear-like tackle which was not picked up by match officials.

 

Both players were fine following the event, however the European Rugby Comitee will now look into the tackle.

 

For those with videos of the match, you don’t have to search for long. On 5 minutes and 35 seconds, Scrabble, as he’s affectionately known, make a tackle on a Bourgoin player, grabbing him by the legs, lifting him up and rotating him to land on his neck.

 

The tackle goes against the ERC’s 10.4 ruling.

 

The sentence is likely to be 1-3 match ban, and may affect either Heineken Cup, or all competitive matches.

 

Should he be banned, Dai Young will be worried by the lack of cover. With Rhys Williams out until January, Mosese and Chris Czekaj are the only two fit wingers in the threadbare squad.

 

Options will include moving Tom Shanklin to the wing, with Jamie Robinson taking the centre spot, or alternatively, the latter going straight in at 11.

 

Other than that Ben Blair could move from full back, with the talented Nick Macleod going to full back.

 

Only other options would be to look around the region, with Dai  recently naming Cardiff RFC flyer Thomas James as a hot prospect. The19-year old recently scored a hat-trick in the Blue and Blacks win over Cross-Keys, and has been touted to make the step up during the early part of 2007.

 

The ERC will review tapes and announce their decision within the next fortnight.
