So'oialo - Inspired or....?

There was a point not too long ago when some people were referring to us as Cardiff All Blacks (well, I heard once anyway). So I suppose the news that we're negotiating with a 67 cap All Black could be seen as a sign that we're close to returning to what was - relatively speaking - a bit of a glory period. On the other hand, Rodney So'oialo has been out of top flight rugby for two years. And in his final year of Super Rugby he was apparently struggling to make the Hurricanes squad. Supporters with long memories can probably remember Wayne Fyvie, the springbok backrower signed a decade ago who had clearly had one too many knee operations. Another comparison could be Jonah Lomu, who of course was way past his best but was at least a big enough name to attract some big crowds. The big plus could be that, in a side which has lacked a little experience and leadership (amongst other things) having a former all black captain involved could help on and off the pitch. If we do indeed sign Rodney So'oialo I guess that'd be the reason. I just hope we're not looking at him as an inexpensive "big name" signing to encourage a few more ticket sales. Either way, lets hope it works out. I hope Pretorius goes back to blindside this season but he can fill in at 8 if needs be.
We need a tighthead and cover for Patchell
