James and Thomas Leave

Cardiff centre Shaun James joins Panzance & Newlyn just a year after arriving at the Arms Park. The 25-year old has found first team appearences hard to find and has found himself in the cardiff RFC team on a number of occasions this year.

The former Pontypridd and Warriors player who was born in Cardiff will joins the growing numer of departures for next seasons campaign. He joins Jonny Vaughnton (Ospreys), Ken Foury (Retired), Nick Walne (Retirted), Fereti Tuilangi (Halifax), Andrew Lewis (Retired) on the departure list.

There are also a number of staff leaving in what can only be a massive turn around for the region in need of a shake up. Mike Rayer (RFC Head Coach), Geraint John (assistant Coach), Allun Lewis (marketing), Jane James (physio) have all left with only Rob Howley comfirmed as joining.

And in a 12:51 update of this story, it has been confirmed that Nathan Thomas has joined Leeds. Thomas was one of the first Blues signings when the region was formed and has featured frequently in the last 2 years. His departure comes following the Blues reputed scouting of NZ duo Xavier Rush and Reuben Thorne. Nathan's release does now add to the specualtion that the NZ pair, or at least Thorne, are on their way.

In a big day for Cardiff's transfers, it has also been rumered that Dai Young has been giving full control of signings, a task which has been down to Peter Thomas and Bob Norster before now. It is believed that Peter Thomas has given Dai an 'blank checkbook' in which to bring success and quality back to the Arms Park, which judging by the release of the lesser players in the squad, he's doing just that.

More good news is that Figian flyer Serali Bobo looks quite probable to join the region pending European qualification. The Scarletts were chaising the NZ back row duo and Seali, but have giving up on them due to lack of funding. Also, a large number, thought be be around 10, youngsters have been given Blues development contracts and 5 being promoted to the Blues squad for next season.

Todays news will come as music to Blues ears who have been demanding a fresh squad, full of proven internationals and to get rid of the players with limited talent. News that true quality is coming and a mixure of the youth players will do no harm to Dai in his bid to get Cardiff back into Heineken cup contention.
