Morgan Talks About Move

New recruit Scott Morgan has been talking to journo’s about his pending move to the Cardiff Blues.

6ft 7’ Morgan was officially unveiled on Tuesday as part of a trio of new signings, Morgan’s arrival shadowed by the end to the Ben Blair sage. But the former Neath, Llanelli and Leeds player was today talking to the media about the reason he turned down moves to his 2 former clubs, and particularly close friend Phil Davies at the Scarlets.

 

"I met with Dai and that had a big effect on my decision. We spoke rugby and personal stuff and he seemed a top guy. It was also clear he had massive aspirations for the club and that we shared the same goals and ambitions.”

"I did have to weigh things up again when Phil made his move, but friendship is not necessarily the right thing to base decisions on. You've got to think of the bigger picture and I just feel joining Cardiff is the right decision for me. They fulfill all my aspirations and ambitions."

Morgan arrives with high aspirations to play for Wales, but also admits he’s looking forward to puling on a Cardiff Blues shirt,

“I think Cardiff are a top eight side in Europe. They are a massive club. It's the capital of Wales and just a very good setup down there. I watched them against Leinster at the Millennium Stadium a few weeks ago and they were absolutely spectacular. They were the highest-placed Welsh side in the Celtic League and it's a great opportunity for me. I am really excited and really looking forward to it."

On his Wales chances, the new Blue said,

“I'll be right in the shop window and it's up to me. It's for my career that I'm making this move. I need to be playing against boys already in the Welsh squad and showing what I can do. I want that No 6 jersey, but I'm not naive enough to think that it's just going to happen. I will certainly do everything I possibly can to get that red jersey”

Morgan has been tipped as a great signing for Dai Young, just reaching his prime, he’s  been doing very well with Leeds, but the clubs performance hasn’t matched that of his own. He now knows that he has a chance to play for Wales, and to bring silverware to Wales with Cardiff, but he knows there’s still a lot of work to do,

“I have got to earn the respect of some very high-profile players in Cardiff. I need to establish myself and play well week-in, week-out. I will just focus on doing a good job for the club and what comes of it will come.”

The Blues will get their first chance to see Morgan in the Blues friendly pre-season matches. Though non have been confirmed as of yet, it’s thought homes tie against Worcester and Bristol are likely.
