Heineken Pools Announced

The Cardiff Blues make up the toughest Heineken Cup group, as the official draw takes place.

The Blues have been drawn against Bourgoin, Leicester and Champions Munster in group 4. It differs to the insiders draw, thogh many would’ve preferred it!

 

The Ospreys and Scarlets also have difficult opponents, Pool 6 perhaps the weakest of the draw.

Treviso, Perpignan, Castres, Wasps

 

Pool 2

Edinburgh, Agen, Gloucester, Leinster

 

Pool 3

Sale, Calvasano, Ospreys, Stade Francais

 

Pool 4

Cardiff Blues, Leicester, Bourgoin, Munster

 

Pool 5

Ulster, Toulouse, London Irish, Llanelli Scarlets

 

Pool 6

Biarritz, Northampton, Parma, Borders

 

 

It’s certainly going to be a tough group, the Blues perhaps the least favourites to qualify, despite being top seed. Each of those games is a near guaranteed sell out at least, though it looks at this stage like yet another year without qualification for Cardiff.

 

The two other Welsh sides also face tough groups, Though both may fancy their chances at a second spot behind Sale and Toulouse respectively.

 

Cardiff will now be praying for an easier Anglo-Welsh group, in hope of getting some much needed silverware.
