Xav new Blues captain

Xavier Rush looks set to replace Rhys Williams as captain, following a poor season for the Welsh Grand Slam hero.

Rush, who was recently voted the 'fans player of the year' on the official website, captained the side during Rhys' absence lst year, but following a magnificent season, looks ready to take the role full time.

Following the signing of Ben Blair, Williams is likely to become second choice at full back, and while many believe he'll move to the wing, Mosese Luveitasau and Chris Czekaj will be tough players to replace.

There has been no official announcement as yet by the Blues board, but inside reports suggest the role has been offered to the kiwi, and the response is likely to be a yes.

In contrast to Rush who has a magnificent year, Williams struggled with injury, form and general fitness. He lost his Wales place in the 6 Nations and recent tour of Argentina, but was part of the very successful Wales 7's squad that went to the Olypics. Hopefully, not having the added pressure of the captincy on his shoulders, Rhys will regain the kind of form we all know he can produce.
