Young Ospreys Duo Rewarded

Following in Kevin Morgan's late call up, Wales coach Mike Ruddock has extended his squad  further, presenting youngsters David Bishop and Richie Pugh with a chance to force their way into contention ahead of the Autumn internationals.

Both have played key role in their regions unbeaten start to the season, and at only twenty-one years offer great hope for the future.

Pugh who has played a large amount of his rugby on the wing, has emerged as an exciting open side flanker, naturally with pace to burn.

Ruddock has already recognised the former Wales under 21s' captains' potential, including him as a late replacement on the full sides' tour to South Africa and Argentina.

Whilst Bishop, like Pugh last season was still eligible to play age grade rugby for his country, only for an ankle injury to dog his season.

"I just want to get back to the level I was at with Bridgend," he explained. "My first objective has been to stay injury-free.

"I played the first five or six games of last season with the Warriors but broke a foot against the Scarlets.

"I spent two or three months recovering from that but came back a bit early and ruptured ligaments in an ankle."

Bishop has excelled alongside another former Warrior in Sonny Parker, however whether he resumes their centre partnership at international appears doubtful.

"There is a potential for them to be included fully in the squad if they keep playing the way they are.

"It's quite possible that players from outside the squad will come into contention for the autumn internationals.

"That's one of the reasons why I have asked people like David, Kevin (Morgan) and Richie along to training.

"It's a chance for them to rub shoulders with the squad. Then, if we need them at some stage before the autumn internationals, it means they are bang up to speed."
