Clonmel which means "honey meadow" is the county town of South Tipperary in Ireland and the largest town in the county.

While the borough had a population of 15,482 in 2006, another 17,008 people were in the rural hinterland.

The town is noted in Irish history for its resistance to the Cromwellian army which sacked both Drogheda and Wexford. It is in the former barony of Iffa and Offa East.

A straight forward run up to Waterford, then up the river Suir, the bridge at Fiddown hasn’t opened for years so unless you have low airdraft that’s the limit.

There’s plenty of water up to Fiddown , I can vouch for it as I’ve been up there on 1,000 ton tankers.

Self and Cheshire will be present and correct. Are having a warm up in Dublin on Thursday night / last look at civilisation. From there our strategy is to avoid Marshy and Blazie for as long as possible
