A big bonus point win for the pirates against a Richmond side who made 21 changes to the match day squad from their last league match.
Any win on the road is a great result and will help build the confidence within the squad.
Any away win is to be welcomed but lets be frank this was a long way from Richmond's best XV. Fender and especially Teague dominated the line-outs and Sirker and Relton were yards faster than anything Richmond could produce. A welcome win yes but don't get carried away - some of the midfield handling was still pretty poor and would have been punished by a better side. I know this sounds churlish but this team is a project and there is still a lot of work to do.
A bit harsh Steve IMO. It was good for some of the "fringe" players to get a game and it would have been the first time some of the combinations had played a match together. An away win scoring 10 tries is pretty good. This young squad will take some confidence from this and I'm sure the coaches will be telling them there's plenty of room for improvement. I'm excited by the potential in this group and given time I reckon they will turn into a very effective squad.
