April 24 2023

Premiership Rugby, the RFU and the Championship clubs have confirmed the format for next year’s Premiership Cup.

The pool stages will take place over five consecutive weekends from the weekends of 8-10 September to 6-8 October with the semi-finals held over 9-11 February and the final over the weekend of 15-17 March.

The 24 teams will be split into four pools of six – based on league standings at the end of the current 2022/23 season.

This is great news and long overdue but I hope this is not a one season wonder as it suits the premiership clubs due to the world cup.

Great news and long overdue indeed. Does this mean that our actual league season will not start until mid October?

Currently, if I'm understanding this correctly where 1 plays 24, 2 plays 23 etc. The pools could look like this:
Pool 1.
Sarries
Mc Quins/Richmond/Rams/Cambridge or/Wasps
Newcastle
Ampthill
London Irish
Ealing

Pool2.
Sale
Caldy
Gloucester
Donny
Exeter
Coventry

Pool3.
Leicester
Notts
Bath
Pirates
Quins
Mc Quins/Richmond/Rams/Cambridge or/Wasps

Pool 4.
Saints
Hartpury
Bristol
Bedford
Jersey
Mc Quins/Richmond/Rams/Cambridge or/ Wasps

It's a pity there are no quarter finals. Think we coul scare a couple of teams in pool 3 without their superstars.

It would be good if they tweaked it a bit geographically.
Ideally we'd want Bath, Bristol and Gloucester!

Geographically ideal Stalwart but, the RFU!!!!!

Agree with you Pirate 15 will this be a one season event due to the RWC.

If there is a match at Tigers will make the Robert Peel aware in advance.
