Wolves capture GB forward Adrian Morley from NRL side Sydney Roosters for 2007.

Great Britain forward Adrian Morley has signed a four-year deal to move from Sydney Roosters to Warrington Wolves for the start of next season.

Prop Morley, 29, joined the Roosters from Leeds in 2001 but was only offered a 12-month contract extension.

"I've decided to join Warrington because the club is really moving in the right direction," he said.

"I want to win a championship and I see Warrington as the place to do it. They are very ambitious."

Morley, who had a stint with Bradford last year, was also approached by Super League's bottom side Wigan, now coached by former Bulls boss Brian Noble.

Warrington coach Paul Cullen said: "This announcement that we have signed Adrian Morley on a four-year contract is one that should excite everyone connected with the club.

"We should celebrate the fact that we have signed a unique player, a born leader, the type of player who inspires others, the type of player we want.

"He leads from the front and is battle hardened after playing in the toughest competition in the sport.

"He will bring a massive go-forward to our pack, setting an example with his ability and professionalism which will rub off on everyone and in particular some of our younger players.

"I put Adrian Morley in a similar bracket to Andrew Johns. Of course as Great Britain prop forward he is a totally different type of player to Johns, but is in a similar category because of his character and ability."

Morley, meanwhile, will fly back to play for Great Britain against New Zealand on 27 June.

Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said: "Adrian really wanted to play, and given his tremendous service to the club over many years, we were content to let him go."

Morley was desperate to play because he is likely to miss the end-of-season Tri-Nations Series because he needs wrist surgery.

"I must say thanks to the club for allowing me to go," he said. "It's a big thing for them to do but it means a lot to me to play for Great Britain."

GB coach Noble also welcomed the decision to release Morley for the international at St Helens.

"He is a world-class player and his presence within the squad will provide a great boost for us," said Noble.
