Birthday treat for Matthew as he is Plymouth Albion Club mascot for the day.

Mascot for the Day

Matthew O'Kane

Matthew, who turned 13 on Christmas Eve, was Albion Mascot for the day and ran on the pitch with his favourite player Ed Lewsey. The day was made that much more sweeter when Albion ran in four tries to get the bonus point against Bedford where his auntie comes from and Matthew was going to phone her after the match to gloat at the result.

Matthew plays for Devonport Services U13 side in Ed Lewsey's other favoured position, right wing. After watching Albion beat Cornish Pirates the week before Matthew found Ed on the train, sat down with him to discuss the match and presumably gave Ed some words of advice on his game.

Matthew, who has been supporting Albion for three years now thinks that if Albion play the way they did against Cornish Pirates they will finish top of the league and be playing next season in the premiership.

Matthew's lasting memory of the day was running on the pitch with Ed but is was such a great day.  His farther said that it was great value for money with the kit included as well as tickets for the match, a signed match ball and a meal with the team after the match.
