Round 10: Albion v Birmingham Moseley
By Happy Knees
November 24 2023
A disastrous outing last week brought Albion's brief reign at the top to a humbling end. This week they should be keen to get back to winning ways, although they return to the Brickfields to entertain Birmingham Mosely who lie 4 points behind in 5th following a run of 5 wins on the trot.
To date, Birmingham Mosely have scored 36 tries this season whilst conceding 37 a much poorer record on both counts than Albion. Notably, it is amongst the backs where most of the tries have been scored and conceded, but it might suit Albion more to keep the ball amongst the forwards. Look out for winger Aquile Smith (usually 14) the brummies leading try-scorer.
Matthew Sharpe will be refereeing the fixture. Both sides, but more so Mose, will need to keep their discipline tight as Mr Sharpe tops the table for issuing yellow cards averaging almost 2.5 over 7 fixtures this season.
Weather: Sunny, clouding over later in the day, chilly, but little wind.
Prediction – Home advantage should give Albion the edge, but Birmingham Moseley’s current form may take them over the line. Not close but suspect Mose will take it.
