Unbeaten Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos battled for victory against a tough Hull KR, who had never lost an opening home game of a season in 17 years, in a game with similar wet conditions of those in last years World Club Challenge and Super League final, as the Rhinos look to build ahead of next weeks 2009 Carnegie World Club Challenge.

The try scorers for the Rhinos were Carl Ablett, Ryan Hall and Kallum Watkins, but the whole side deserves credit after the squad had to fight hard for victory.
Shaun Briscoe's side had the lead in the first half, thanks to a try from himself, and Micheal Dobson kicking the conversion and two other penalties.
Leeds' defense looked strong, but so too did KR's, although the Rhinos did end up winning three tries to one.
Kevin Sinfield's superb leadership and words from Brian McClennan at half time settled the Rhinos in the second half, as they went on to control the game, and steal victory for the home side at Craven Park.
The final, decisive try, came with a little under ten minutes till time; Bailey had time to send a neat pass Watkins' way, for him to then cross the whitewash with ease. Bailey made a great decision, even if he put his club before himself. Ryan Bailey left the field on a stretcher after an eight minute delay.
There were great performances from the likes of experienced players such as Keith Senior, Danny McGuire and of course, Kevin Sinfield, who kicked seven points for his side.
