Exeter Chiefs face Leeds Carnegie who were relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season in only the second game of the new season.  Both sides opened their season with a win, Chiefs away to Esher and Leeds v last years 3rd place side Nottingham and both will be keen to lay down a marker for the rest of this season.

Leeds started the season with a new coaching team, Neil Back and Andy Key who inherited a fairly stable squad.  Although Leeds let some 12 players go only 3 left to join Premiership teams. They have added 6 players, notably Henry Paul (Harlequins RL) and Jason Strange (Bristol).  Whereas The Chiefs had 8 players leave but have recruited 15 players to take the squad to 50 players.  Most have come from ND1 sides with the the following players bring Megners or Premiership experience Richie Pugh (Ospreys), Chris Budgen (Nortampton Saints), Bryan Rennie (London Irish), Dan Tuohy (Gloucester) and  Matt Cornwell (Leicester Tigers).

Such a big squad presents The Chiefs coach, Pete Drewett with plenty of scope and back-up for what should be a very exciting season.

The Chiefs lost narrowly to Leeds Tykes (as they were 2 seasons ago) and will be looking for a win this time in front of what promises to be a large crowd at Sandy Park.

will be interesting to see how many nat 1 fixtures are rained off tomorrow.
Seem to remember last season that we played a home match whilst Lanson v Saints was rained off, probably when that photo was taken Moorsman.
Not a patch on the last time we played Otley at the county ground, couldn't tell one team from the other after 5 minutes.

Last season (I think) Newbury had a game abandoned after about 20 minutes or so due to the rain.

After a restart the visitors no.8 took the ball going forward and slid through the onrushing Blues defence on his side by about 8 metres.

Hopefully no repeat of that today!
