It's Harum Scarum at the Stoop

We (Chiefs fans) knew this sort of result was going to happen sooner or later and it could have been a lot sooner if the Chiefs hadn't started the season in such great style.  One thing is for certain and that is Rob Baxter will not be pulling any punches when he gets down to analysing this defeat.  In the Offy Site Report he suggets the team  "didn't get off the bus" and  "were a bit comfortable coming to the Stoop" "we perhaps didn't turn up with the desparate turn of mind we have played in our other Premiership games to date".  He does however suggest it's easy to identify problems from the match that means they can be worked on and form part of the steep learning curve for our first Prem season.

As to yesterday from my perspective I had a great day out watching quality rugby (mainly played by Quins) but felt the Chiefs were never too far away from parity.  There appears to be an increasing tendancy for the game to become a touch 'harum scarum' and Quins were determined to stamp their game plan on the match.  This involved more quick lineout ball than I've ever seen allowing their backs to run at pace.  Chiefs defence was OK but having clearly been taken off of Mr Davey's Christmas list any indiscretion was harshly dealt with.  Things were also not helped by two injuries early on which may have serious repercussions as the season progresses. 

This was my first visit to the Stoop and I really enjoyed chatting to Quins fans and the 2 for 1 beer deal ;-).  And just incase Mr Harvey wants to know I am still smiling and enjoying watching Exeter Chiefs a Premiership Rugby Club.
