Win this weekends game and we're in the Semi.....then......

Euro quarter final v Newcastle Falcons

This Saturday sees the Chiefs with a home  quarter final in the Challenge Cup versus the Falcons and there's a big prize on offer.  OK not for winning this game but it's been announced that this years winner of the trophy will gain a place in next season's top tier competition.  Lots of ifs, buts and maybes to go along with this but basically that's true.   Not that Saturday will be easy as both sides will be aware of what's on offer.  We know Newcastle are a much improved side and we will need to be focused and on our game to beat them.

I'm not sure how Rob Baxter will approach this in terms of selection but I expect to see something like our best side on the pitch.  After all we're rapidly approaching the end of thr season with a top 4 or 6 place to play for.  My bet will be this will be used to run into the Saints game with all guns blazing.  The Tribe will need to be in good voice to drive the guys on and I'll be in The Library doing my bit.

Its not quite as simple as that Colin, this is from EPCR site:

Clubs qualify for the 2015/16 European Rugby Champions Cup in the following ways :.

• PRO12: The seven highest-ranked clubs based on their finishing positions in the league. The seven qualifiers must include at least one club from each of Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

• Top 14: The six highest-ranked clubs based on their finishing positions in the league.

• Aviva Premiership: The six highest-ranked clubs based on their finishing positions in the league.

The play-offs for the 20th qualifier will include the following clubs:

•The seventh-ranked club from the Top 14.
•The seventh-ranked club from the Aviva Premiership, or the winner of the 2014/15 Challenge Cup if from the Aviva Premiership and not already qualified for the Champions Cup.•The highest-ranked club from the PRO12 not already qualified for the Champions Cup.

Apart from colin's faux pas, I agree, RB Will attack with a full squad firstly to show we take falcons seriously, and secondly oil the cogs ready for Saints ( with or without George North ) and Should we succeed on Saturday There's a trip to either Gloucester or Galway , that natch will be a level higher and it will be so close to the big prize a well practised team is going to be needed.

That all said, we all know RB will only be thinking about Saturday's game..... Won't he?

Let's not be defeatist, we're going to be in the top 4 of the AP aren't we? Then it's anybody's game in the playoffs.

Winning the ECC would just be the garnish on the side of a great season

I'm reasonably confident we can at least finish top 6 in the Premiership at this point and am not counting chickens on winning the ECC just yet. I am reasonably confident we can beat the Geordies Saturday though and then we'll see what happens in the semis.
