West Country Cup anyone?

Well at least it's a different spin on preseason

West Country Cup anyone?

bigchief

give us a wave in The Library BC

This season sees the introduction of a new competition to ring up the curtain on the Aviva Premiership, well apart from the small matter of the Rugby World Cup that is.  It's been structured to give home and away games between Chiefs, Bath and Glaws although I expect it may have had a different look had Brizz escaped the Championship playoffs.   However three sides will battle it out although there will be some Brizz echoes because Glaws will be using the Mem as their home venue.  This is because Kingsholm is unavailable due to World Cup business.   Sandy Park avoids this because of the dates pool games are to be played.   The chance of a return to The Mem will bring back many happy memories to Chiefs supporters however it's going to be strange hearing Gloucester, Gloucester, Gloucester ringing out instead of Bristol, Bristol, Bristol (what strange musicality both have).

First up for Chiefs is the visit of Glaws to Sandy Park and I can't wait to back into The Library and see some live rugby.  It's going to be interesting to see our new signings, apart from Geoff Parling and Michele Capagnaro, who are on World Cup duty.  Rob Baxter will be putting out a separate 15 for each half with Steeno and Chudders wearing the arm band either side of half time.  Although we're informed that nothing with regards Prem Captaincy can be read into this?  Whatever the outcome it will be great to be back together with The Tribe and to hear The Chop ring out.

It is good to have the season starting up again, and it does feel like it is starting up...rather than the usual preseason feel.
