Potter praises Crusaders quality

St Helens boss Mick Potter reserved praise for the Celtic Crusaders after his side scraped to a 4-0 victory at the Brewery Field. The result saw Cru suffer a fourth successive defeat as the search for a first Super League win continues - but the battling qualities of John Dixon's men more than impressed Australian coach Potter.

Potter's side looked to be set for a frustrating afternoon as a battling defensive display from the Crusaders kept the league-leaders at bay for almost an hour.

Tom Armstrong's try proved enough to settle the contest in terrible conditions - but Potter was impressed with the South Wales outfit as his side were made to sweat for the two points.

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game, given the conditions and the strength of their team. So we are happy to come away with two points." said Potter.

"The Crusaders are a very strong team and, given they had a couple of guys who got busted during the game, I thought they were very courageous in their performance.

"There will be a lot of teams who will come down here thinking they will get two points and will find it a lot harder than they really want."
