Loose forward to miss rest of the season

The Celtic Crusaders will be without Peter Lupton for the rest of the season. The player has decided to undergo knee surgery and will thus be unavailable for Cru's final four Super League games of the current campaign.

The loose forward has played a big role in the Saders' first Super League campaign and has made 21 appearances for the club this season.

However, he has been struggling with a knee problem for somewhile and has decided to undergo surgery.

The player will now be unavailable for the club's final four league matches against the Yorkshire quartet of Wakefield, Leeds, Huddersfield and Castleford.

The player is hoping that taking the surgery early will maximise his chances of being on top form for the Crusaders next season.

"I need to get the operation done now," he said. "I can then have a full pre-season and be ready for next year."

27-year-old Lupton has bagged four Celtic tries this season.

Get him fit for next year. This season is almost finished anyway...

He has been our best player this year along with Chan and O'hara (plus Matty when he is fit)
