Matty Smith to join Salford in 2010

It has been confirtmed that St Helens scrum-half Matty Smith will join rivals Salford next season. The 22-year-old has been a crucial part of the Saders' squad during this season's loan spell, despite a series of injuries, and fans will be disappointed to see him leave South Wales.

Smith has spent the season on loan at the Brewery Field from the Saints.

He's played an important role in the club's first season in the Super League, though has suffered with a series of niggling injuries that have hampered his progress.

Smith has missed twelve of the club's 27 games in all competitions, but is likely to be part of John Dixon's XIII for the season's final outing at Castleford next weekend.

The promising youngster has agreed to join Salford on loan next season in a move that has excited fans of the Willows club.
