Exclusive interview: Celtic Crusaders' Luke Dyer

CelticCrusadersRLC.com has been lucky enough to catch a few words with top try-scorer Luke Dyer this week. The 28-year-old is currently injured but is eagerly anticipating the new season and is hopeful that the club will enjoy a bright future at Rodney Parade.
Dyer is currently suffering from a shoulder problem that has seen him miss the end of a difficult campaign for the Saders.
The former Hull KR man has notched up 22 appearances for the club this season, however. With six scores to his name, Dyer is the club's top try-scorer to date with only the trip to Castleford left on the fixture calendar.
CelticCrusadersRLC.com was lucky enough to get to ask Dyer a few questions this week.
Q1. It's clearly been a really difficult season, but what positives have you taken? What's been your favourite moment of the campaign?
The positives I've noticed is seeing all the Welsh born and bred players who have made their debuts this year. My favourite moment was when I put the nail in the coffin against Bradford when we won our first game.
Q2. Reports say you're about to sign on for the 2010 season with the club. Are you looking forward to that?
Yes, I've agreed to stay in South Wales and I'm definitely excited about the future. I see this club as a very big diamond in the rough with great things to come.
Q3. What are your hopes for next season? Are you excited about Rodney Parade?
My hopes for next year are that we have a very competitive team and I'm excited about the Rodney Parade.
Q4. Any thoughts on the new badge and name change?
Sorry, but I'm unaware of the new badge and name change.
Q5. You're out injured at the moment. How close are you to full fitness? Will you be able to play any part in Wales' upcoming matches?
Yes, I'm out injured at the moment. I'm lucky that I didn't need an operation. I've torn a few muscles in my shoulder and pectoral. I won't be able to play for Wales.
Q6. It's Castleford next week - your ex-club. How do you think they'll do in the play-offs and can the Crusaders claim a good result at the Jungle?
Yes, I have some good memories from Castleford. They definitely have recruited over the past three years and will be a dark horse in the semi-finals. I definitely hope the Crusaders play well there on the weekend.
Q7. What are your hopes for the future of rugby league in South Wales and what are your own personal career ambitions?
I'd really like to play 100 games at the Crusaders and help Wales make the next World Cup.

Great to see he wants to play 100 times for the Crusaders though, and hopefully he’s got a bright future in the Welsh national side too.
