Scorpions snap up Mike Stubbs from Pontypool

Mark Rowley's Scorpions have snapped up Pontypool RFC's Mike Stubbs for the 2011 campaign. The giant forward has switched codes after notching up Union experience with the likes of Gogledd Cymru 104 and Sale Sharks Academy.

Stubbs will be hoping to make his club debut in the weekend’s crucial league clash with struggling Gateshead.

The physical forward is 6"4 and 18 stone, so will offer plenty of muscle to the Scorpions squad.

He boasts plenty of experience in Union – having previously played for Goggled Cymru and Sale Sharks academy.

Stubbs switches to rugby league from Pontypool RFC, who finished 13th in Wales' top flight last season.
