Scorpions thumped at home to Swinton in 74-22 defeat

South Wales Scorpions crumbled to a discomforting 74-22 defeat at the hands of Swinton Lions on Sunday. Despite leading 18-0, the Welshmen ultimately took a hammering against the league leaders; who ran over an impressive 13 tries in the process.
Gavin Dodd ran over a hat-trick as Swinton secured an easy win at the Gnoll.
Mark Rowley’s unfancied Scorpions got off to a stunning start with Jamie Murphy breaking the deadlock after only 30 seconds.
Steve Parry and Casey Bromilow followed over in quick succession as the Scorpions build up an 18 point lead inside only 11 minutes.
However, Swinton quickly got their acts together and soon built-up a 32-18 lead at the interval, scoring six tries in 25 minutes.
The Scorpions were rattled and the visitors totally bossed the second period; racking up a further 42 points after the half-time break.
