The South Wales Scorpions first match on the road to Wembley takes place on Saturday efternoon (6th April) when we host Doncaster in the Tetley's Challenge Cup. Kick off is at 5.30pm and admission is £10 for adults. Doncaster were last seasons Championship One winners and will prove a stern test for South Wales who suffered a derby day defeat on Monday v North Wales Crusaders.
Ahead of the weekend match Scorpions coach Dave Clark said: “I don’t think we’ve any new injury concerns so it looks like we’ll have a similar side to last weekend. Rhodri Lloyd is suspended for one game after a striking incident against Oldham, and James Tutuila is serving the second of a two game suspension. Ollie Olds and Jack Pring are both unlikely to return this week too. It certainly makes things tough for us, but once again it will give some of our younger players the chance to shine as they did against Crusaders last Monday. Playing a match on Monday afternoon and having this game on Saturday gives us a shorter turnaround than normal but the boys trained on Wednesday night and were in pretty good shape.”
The Scorpions are undefeated on their travels this season having won two away games in the Northern Rail Cup but haave suffered three consecutive defeats at the Gnoll and a home win would be a massive boost for all concerned. The game is preceded by an Under 16 international between England and Wales, the admission price covers both fixtures. Kick off for the international is 2pm.
