Announcements due on future of South Wales Scorpions

Fans of South Wales Scorpions RLFC have certainly had their patience tested in recent times, but some significant announcements about the club's future will be made on Monday.
Many questions about the season ahead remain unanswered - and with the league campaign scheduled to kick off in just five weeks, supporters have, understandably, been growing increasingly restless.
Since the end of last season's dismal campaign, we've seen the departure of Head Coach Dave Clark, of Chairman and founder Phil Davies and of a host of players, including Dalton Grant, named in Championship One's team of 2013.
However, whilst the club have confirmed that advanced discussions have been had with Wales Dragonhearts boss Mike Grady about the Head Coach vacancy, much of what the future holds for the Scorpions remains a mystery.
The club has indicated that delays to the rubber-stamping of Wales Rugby League's takeover of the Scorpions has caused these hold-ups, sparking uncertainty and speculation for long-suffering fans of the code across South Wales.
However, the wait looks to be over. Statements are to be made on Monday, with the club tweeting on Sunday that it was "all ready for announcements" and urging fans to keep an eye on the website and trade press.
So, what can we expect to hear?
The biggest news is likely to be where the club is based next season. There has been much speculation about the club's future at Neath's Gnoll ground and the Scorpions confirmed in December that discussions were ongoing with potential venues.
Grady's appointment may also be confirmed by the club, whilst an update on player retention and recruitment would reassure fans. After recent seasons, a focus on a smaller, consistent squad would be a breath of fresh air and a move which is essential if the Scorpions are to compete.
It's also likely we'll get news on season tickets, ticket costs and other such detail. It would be excellent to see the club consider lowering the match-day ticket price, which must act as a deterrent to some fans attending matches. To be blunt, we certainly didn't offer the most glamorous of products last season.
In recent years, South Wales has witnessed some fine rugby league moments and some disasters; from the highs of the Super League to the sorry demise of the Celtic Crusaders. After four seasons of the Neath-based Scorpions treading water in the bottom tier, Monday is the latest chapter in this tale - so stay tuned, folks, and keep the faith!
