Result stands in opening fixture 18-4 to Oldham Roughyeds.

The RFL have confirmed that the result will stand following the early finish of the opening game at Maesteg on Sunday. In freezing cold, very wet conditions the visitors Oldham Roughyeds were leading 18-4 when the referee called a halt to the match. Conditions were dreadful and players were suffering although all put in a tremendous effort for 72 minutes.

It was excellent to get the show on the road and see the South Wales Scorpions in action at their new home in the Kingstone Press Championship One. Conditions will be much better the next time they play at the Old Parish in the Challenge Cup against Hemel on 16th March. 

The next game is a local derby at Gloucester on Sunday 9th March when the Scorps will be looking to get their first point of the season, the result v Oldham was not enough to get a bonus point. 

Well done to all, and the the announced attendance of over 400 was excellent too.
