Scorpions out of action as top three all victorious

South Wales Scorpions were out of action on Sunday, but Championship One's other eight clubs locked horns as the rugby league season approaches the business end of proceedings.

The top three were all victorious, with table-topping York securing a comfortable 48-12 win at Gloucestershire All Golds.

Oldham sit second following a 38-28 win at London Skolars, but the Roughyeds occupy the second promotion spot by only three points, with third-placed Hunslet - who thrashed struggling Oxford 48-6 - boasting a game-in-hand.

In the day's mid-table clash, Gateshead climbed above Hemel Stags in the table, thanks to a 34-26 victory at Gateshead International Stadium.

Scorpions return to action on August 9th as Gloucestershire visit Maesteg. Away trips then follow to Gateshead and Oxford, before the season draws to a close with the visit of Hunslet, who could travel to ? in the hunt for promotion.
