So close but still a defeat...

South Wales Scorpions put up their best performance of the season last Sunday when they played Oxford RL in a closely fought encounter at Mountain Ash. The home side made things very difficult for themselves with a dreadful opening ten minutes which started with a poor kick off and quickly got worse! In effect the Scorpions gave Oxford a 16 point lead and it is to their credit that they clawed the points back.

Twice the Scorpions levelled the scores at 16 all and 22 all but were unable to press home the advantage and late tries for the visitors gave them a 14 point victory which is exactly what the bookmakers had predicted. The crowd left feeling they had at least seen a contest which is something which has not always been the case this season.

There is one home game left to put the record straight and register a home win. The fixture against Newcastle Thunder on Sunday 6th September at 1pm is our last chance to win a home game this season. It would be great if the team could reward the fans with a win.

The attendance at Mountain Ash was announced as 148.

So close but still a defeat...
