The South Wales Scorpions will be based in Caerphilly from 2016 onwards. The club have played there several times before during their existence and have recorded two victories on the Virginia Park ground in three appearances. Caerphilly is a superb choice for the club to have selected and fans are genuinely excited about the move to a ground which attracted a crowd of 500 for a match with Keighley a few years ago in 2011.
Caerphilly is close to Newport and Cardiff and is easily accessible for travelling teams and fans alike from the M4 (A470). The ground and Caerphilly RFC have witnessed some exciting times in their long history it would be excellent if the Scorpions could add to this over the coming seasons.
The ground is served with two stands on either side of the ground, a large open terrace behind one set of posts, an excellent bar / clubhouse on site and ample parking on the nearby streets.
The official website covers the move in further detail with extensive comments from the new owners. In summary Marc (Lovering) and Neil (Williams) have made a well considered move and are planning ahead for the club and the fans.
After an excellent win for Wales RL on Friday night the XIII a side code is glowing this weekend in South Wales!
