As the domestic season takes it's winter break and ahead of the new era for South Wales Ironmen in Merthyr for 2017 and beyond, the Welsh team have some important fixtures coming up. These should help keep interest in the XIII a side code high for fans in South Wales and beyond.
WALES RL v SERBIA at PARC STEBONHEATH in LLANELLI on Saturday 15TH October 2016 - Kick off is now at 3pm (changed from the originally announced 6pm) in the first match in Wales' 2017 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Tickets are priced from £10 for adults, £8 concessions and £5 for children. Seats from £12 for adults. Group discounts and family tickets are also available.

Folowing this match WALES RL will play in a friendly match agaist JAMAICA at Wakefield before heading out to play ITALY in Monza in another World Cup qualifier.
The JAMAICA game is a 7.30pm kick off on Friday 21st October.

Just reading how Tyson Frizzle is apparently Australian AND Welsh.
Seems you can play for both a tier 1 and a tier 2 country - presumably not against each other!!!!
I can see the reason to be "loose" with nationality rules for tier 2 nations, but I would have thought any switch should be irreversible so you should not be able to flit between two nations. I do not think this effective duel nationality gives the international game a lot of credibility.

Rugby League and Rugby Union have always been a bit slack on the international qualification rule. Not quite as bad as cricket but agree it doesn't look too good from some angles!

Very good win for Wales on Saturday. Serbia were never going to threaten but you can only beat what is put in front of you.

You have to say that if someone had said last month "list every RL nation you can", then Jamaica would probably not have been on my list. Are there even 13 Jamaicans living in Sydney?

It seems Ireland had an amateur side out. I may have to revise my "speed bump" comment but we should get through this comfortably.

I think the 16 -16 scoreline speaks volumes,

I saw Kopjak saying the Ifaliens had one of the Bergamasco brothers in their squad. Anyone know if he's ever played RL?

33-year-old former Stade Francais and Racing Metro centre Mirco Bergamasco currently plays for Sacramento Express - they are a professional American rugby union team that play in the newly formed PRO Rugby competition. He has been selected for the Italian RL team.
I cannot see that Mirco has ever played the XIII a side game.
Hopefully he'll get confused at play the ball and when the ball goes over the touchline.

He wasn't the Bergamasco who made a pigs ear of playing No9 in union. Seems to be family history in "pitching in where needed".
I suspect they would put him at loose forward? If I were a Welsh midfielder I would be licking lips at thought of him in the centre.
