You've done a better job of fixtures on here than has been done on the Official Site.

Also it still says Championship.

The offical website is another area we need to become more professional as a club.

I couldn't agree more Paddytaff !. Tigers and Harlequins in the first two weeks will be challenging but should guarantee a good crowd. Let's hope that Lyn is able to secure all the additional players he wants fairly quickly. Pity that Adam Jones has signed a new contract for the Ospreys ! I discovered over the weekend that all the player ins and outs are on London Welsh's Wikipedia page.
[en.wikipedia.org] I guess this is fairly up to date as any other club advising of a player movement will automatically update our page. Bring on the Tigers!

What are the kick off times likely to be for home fixtures.
The Celtic League are nearly always evening games, really iinconvenient for suporters travelling a distance.

Curious, the Telegraph had all the kickoffs on Saturdays at 3pm (rather than the weekend of 7/8/9 September etc) save for the Sunday opener against Tigers at 2pm. Presumably Sky then dictates when they want te kickoffs to enable them to screen non-stop sporting wallpaper, but it makes forward planning difficult if you cannot rely on the Telegraph sporting pages! There are no Premiership matches at Kassam between 29 September and 3 November which is a bit odd, and no Premiership matches scheduled for 13 and 20 October, 10 and 17 November and 8 and 15 December. Presumably some of these weekends will be used for various cup competitions, but if we have any spare dates because we are not in the Heineken, could we fix up friendliest with Welsh sides and either play them at Kassam or (shock horror) at Old Deer Park? I might have hoped that 22 and 29 December might be for local Derby or two but away at Worcester and home to Wasps is the RFU idea of a local derby.

Worcester might not sound like much of a derby but when you consider its only about 5 miles further from Oxford than Richmond is... (Sm7)

Also does anyone know when the Amlin fixtures come out? I want to know when to book my trip to Florence for!

Just about as tough a start for you in the first 2 games as it is possible to get, but at least you will get to know what the Premiership is all about very quickly!

Best of luck, and win the first 2 games, and who knows what might happen from there.

Looking forward to our two games with you.

Deja vu? I've seen it all before

Other sports are able to provide fixture lists with EXACT dates and EXACT times, not just these are the weekends where Sky may pick the timeslot for their particular needs. What a joke! The RFU under Bill Beaumont should seize back control over fixture dates and times from Sky, and tell them to be happy with the fixtures they are offered to televise. How can I possibly plan my busy social whirl (as a pensioner) with such uncertainty? For one thing advance rail tickets need booking well ahead.

Re: London Welsh 2012/13 Fixtures

I'm certainly not defending PRL, the RFU or the broadcasters but I don't think that Premiership rugby is alone with this problem. Broadcasting rights are split between Sky and ESPN which must only complicate things.

Anyway, I'm sure I read somewhere that the first batch of TV broadcasts will be finalised by the end of this week and then clubs can finalise the times and and dates of early-season fixtures.

One area where we are lucky is that anyone can publish the full fixture list for the season. In football the fixtures are subject to copyright and only those that pay for a licence can publish the fixture list for more than the following few weeks so it's even more difficult to use supporter websites to keep track of changes.

True, but when was there last legal action for a local infringement of FA copyright of their fixture list? They might conceivably sue a national paper but hardly a local club. Early season fixtures is not really the point. There are weekends later, before Chrstmas, where it is silly to have to hold the entire weekend for a fixture tat ay be over by Friday night. The fact is the Tv rights are wagging the dog.

They do pursue anyone that uses the fixture list without a licence. It probably wouldn't end up in court because their lawyers would make sure that the warning letters were frightening enough! None of the football sites on SportNetwork have full fixtures lists up.

There was an ECJ ruling as recently as March saying that the copyright isn't legal but it is still being fought through the UK courts. Anyway, all that is completely irrelevant.

When the broadcasters are putting in £54m over three years (average £1.5m per club per season?) they may feel that they have the right to demand whatever they want.... Championship clubs got around £30k each from Sky and still had to bow to their demands. The clubs and the RFU are so dependent on TV income that they can't afford to stand up to the broadcasters.

Of course that £18m pa isn't distributed equally as it depends on number of years in the Premiership, category of Premiership shares held etc. etc.

That's not a bad idea. I wonder how many more double weekends we can manage, where we watch an old Championship rival as well as our new opponents. I'd hope to see a few Ldn Scottish and Esher matches next season,as well.

It's not unusual for the relegated club to compete in the 'A' league, with six clubs in one conference and seven in the other. Leeds were in it last season, and it looks like Gloucester have been bumped into the Northern Conference to make way for us to join the Southern Conference.

The offical website is another area we need to become more professional as a club.

Sorry if this has already been posted but I contacted he club (John Taylor) about this and received the following email from the Webmaster:

"I assume it's because you need to empty the cache on your computer. The cache is a space in your computer's hard drive and in RAM memory where your browser saves copies of previously visited Web pages. Your browser uses the cache like a short-term memory. Instead of downloading a fresh image from a recently viewed website, it will load the image from your cache folder, thereby making the browsing process a little quicker. Emptying the cache refreshes the site.

The website does say Aviva Premiership on the league table."

So I went away and looked again and emailed back:

"Hello Joe

I thought your explanation below sounded a little implausible so I went to the LW site and there it was - ‘Championship League table’ with all the Premiership clubs below. I then right-clicked and clicked ‘Reload’ from the pop-up menu (I use Google Chrome). @#$%&-me if it didn’t all go yellow and Aviva Premiership appeared! I owe you an apology and I will mention it on Dragon’s Den."

The moral of the story? Refresh your webpage.

Ron

PS the censored expletive above is very innocent - it starts with 'b' and rhymes with rugger. Does Mary Whitehouse run this site?
