Moseley Away

Moseley Just back from Moseley so a few random thoughts on another great trip. For those interested in travel details I flew to Southampton, landed at 9.17 and still caught the 9.22 train to Birmingham which got me to New Street by 11.50. What a great airport Southampton is!
I met up with the Stourbridge branch of the jersey supporters group and CRP47 in the Lost and Found and we then moved onto the Wellington which had been very well recommended by Bill Sley. This place is worth going to Birmingham for even if there was no excuse to watch Rugby and it took amazing willpower to resolve to head out to Yardley Wood.

We got to the ground a little after 2pm and the match report gives an excellent summary of how the game went. Despite the fact that Mose scored three tries to our one this was a game we should have won by a country mile. Jersey were dominant in the forwards but our game plan was woeful. We constantly passed along the line which looked great but against a really well drilled drift defence and an outstanding back row we never looked like scoring that way. We showed how to score with a driving maul which Mose had no answer to but then reverted to the game plan of passing it along the line into Mose's strength. The decision to kick to the corner rather than take a scrum when the referee had audibly warned the Mose pack that the next offence would lead to a yellow card even baffled the Mose supporters. Overall I still take loads of positives out of the best start Jersey have ever had in a Championship season. The forwards were excellent and the backs can really play. Sort the game plan and tactical management out and we will win lots of games.
Great to meet up with the Crewe branch of the Jersey supporters group and to meet up with Kingheathlad - I assume he worked out who I was by spotting the tankard.

Mose are a cracking hospitable club and they really deserve better crowds - so come on Birmingham get out and support them. Bring on Donny.
