New rule: a try is worth 7 points...

Have you been watching the television recently? If so you may have seen Jonny Wilkinson pop up in the line up of the latest Lucozade Sport advert, alongside the likes of Liverpool & England footballer Micheal Owen. Well this is not the only ad campaign to feature Jonny...
The Lucozade ad is just the most recent campaign to feature Newcastle Falcons' captain as advertisers seem to have realised that in Wilkinson they have the perfect sporting role model to front their campaigns.

A recent Adidas' poster (pictured right) simply had a picture of Jonny alongside the tag line "New Rule: a try is worth seven points". Neil Dawson, the advert's Art Director, said that the advert is one Adidas are likely to use again.
"It came out on posters right after England's Grand Slam win. It will probably be used again around the World Cup."
The advert was produced by Ad agency TBWALONDON, who were also responsible for the David Beckham "Cometh the hour" adverts used during the World Cup, as well as the very funny John Smiths' ads starring Peter Kay.
Being chosen to take part in such ad campaigns is undoubtedly a sign of Wilkinson's growing profile. As his fame spreads beyond the dedicated rugby fan out into the wider world, Wilkinson is rapidly becoming the face of English rugby.
Many thanks to Neil Dawson of TBWALONDON for his assistance.
