The A League Run In

The Northern Conference of the Zurich A league is set for a grandstand finish this season after Monday night's results changed the look of the table.

Long time leaders Northampton were crushed at Percy Park 45-7 by Falcons, and with only four matches left for each side, there's only three points between the top four sides:-

Leicester 22 pts

Northampton 20 pts

Falcons 20 pts

Worcester 19 pts

The remaining fixtures put the young Falcons in with a great chance of winning the league and qualifying for the two legged final in April.  On Monday night, Falcons go to Heywood Road to play a Sale side with only one win so far this season, whilst Leicester entertain Worcester and Northampton host the so far pointless Leeds.

On 29th November, Falcons go to Sixways to meet Worcester, and Northampton entertain Leicester in the East Midlands derby.

24th January sees Leeds travelling up the A1 to Percy Park to play Falcons, Sale go to Welford Road to meet Leicester, and Worcester play Northampton.

Then finally, in what could prove to be a title decider, Leicester travel to Percy Park on Easter Monday, 28th March, where the winners could go to the final.  On the same night, Northampton go to Sale and Leeds play Worcester.

If you can get along to watch the youngsters, do so.  In the six games so far, they've scored 27 tries, including 7 in each of the last two matches.
